Washington, D.C., Nov. 11, 2025 -- The California State Board of Education has approved Eureka Math² California® for kindergarten through Algebra 1.
Earning a spot on the state-approved list means schools and districts can select the curriculum with confidence, knowing it is aligned to California's math standards and crafted around the state's 2023 Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools. The Framework is organized around Big Ideas in mathematics, allowing students to see how interconnected math topics are within and across grades and encouraging a coherent approach to instruction.
Developed by Great Minds PBC®, Eureka Math² California is available in English and Spanish starting in transitional kindergarten (TK).
The research-based math curriculum is the only math curriculum to earn a CAST certification for accessibility and product design, signaling its adherence to Universal Design for Learning principles.
Working in close partnership with the English Learner Success Forum (ELSF), Eureka Math² California authors embedded language supports in the curriculum that are clear, useful, research-based, and appropriate for multilingual learners.
Across grades and topics, Eureka Math² California builds deep, conceptual understanding of math while ensuring students also develop procedural skills and math fluency. It emphasizes real-world problem solving and data science through lessons that use authentic and relevant data to support knowledge and skill building.
"Eureka Math² California was written by teachers for teachers with a clear understanding of how to help all students excel in math. It's rigorous and engaging and connects math in meaningful ways to students' lives," said Dana Fricke, Great Minds Chief Revenue Officer and a longtime California resident. "I'm excited to see teachers bring it to life in classrooms across the state and see students reach new heights, which is our ultimate goal."
The curriculum includes an engaging and easy-to-use digital platform and digital tools that enhance instruction and support teaching and learning.
Schools across California are piloting the curriculum this year, and many are expected to fully implement it in the upcoming school year. To try it in your school community or to learn more, please visit: https://greatminds.org/math/eurekamathsquared/california/.
